Fear still, like a rolling cloud, clung to the girl's skin like a cheap perfume not appealing now but revolting. Bah! Had he not told her to be at ease? Had he wished death upon her then the icy grip of the black god would have grasped her the moment his eyes met with hers. He moved more quickly than her eye could see, was stronger than she could hope to imagine and had the knowledge of centuries to guide him. What hope had she if he wished her dead?
Anger crept into his voice, raising it like the tides of the sea. "I'll not drain you of your life blood, little girl." A roll of the eyes here, a human gesture he had become fond of across his span of years and a wild toss of the hand. "I have sworn off the taking of human life. Now are you but a child cowering beneath her mother's skirts? Still, your, fears!"
What good were his efforts towards morality when even those informed of the supernatural world cowered before him like a leaf shaking in the wind? This girl's fear made a mockery of his centuries of struggle. Who was she, an ignorant fool, to assume so much in the way of his character!
He quieted his rage, though succeeding only in the addition to a soft edge to the voice. "Tomorrow then, young swan. Have you a place in mind?" He would leave the location to her, though her home, he would assume, would not be where they met.

She knew that Vlad was attempting to settle her fears, that if she really were to be killed he, like any other member of the supernatural, would have killed her long ago. She knew that she had nothing to fear, that fate had given her the right to remain in this life, to remain silently in a world into which she was born and remain powerless into the world into which she had been thrust.
He had asked her where to meet her and Esme's mind reeled. She thought about her flat, it was most definately the least likely place for anyone to discover this world of the supernatural, but it was also the place her parents were most likely to look for her when they arrived in London the following day. Her parents had a lawsuit in London and they had promised to take their daughter out to eat, but she was going to convieniently have a class she had to cram for.
Perhaps the school... yes, the school would be the best place. "I go to the University on the outskirts of the city. I have classes until a little after noon. I know an old building there that's been abandoned for years, many believe it's haunted and thanks to a few boobytraps that I've set, no one dares enter it any longer. Will you meet me there? I'd say around one o'clock on the second floor."

His mind ventured to wonder what manner of girl set traps within the confines of an abandoned building? Impressive though, that she would give him personal information in the guise of her school. She possessed courage beyond what he'd originally thought. Good, very good indeed.
Ironic, that the location she picked should be one thought to be haunted. In a way perhaps, tomorrow it would be, haunted by a vampire, witch and sorceress. Already she was thinking of privacy, it spoke volumes for her trustworthiness. He liked this girl, he liked her a lot.
"One o'clock, the second floor. I and a friend will be there, doubt it not." A man walked past, a quick glance in their direction and he slowed his pace, plainly ensuring the young lady did not require assistance. Vlad took young Esme's hand in his and placed the second chaste kiss of the night upon the soft skin. "Until then, my dear." He said, forgoing the usual pet name of 'my swan' for the more common endearment. It wouldn't do for the newcomer to overhear the outdated phrase fall from his lips.
He turned, as if on a turntable and not solid ground, a grace he could not help or didn't seem to notice, and disappeared around the corner of the building.

Vlad's lips touched her hand once more, sealing his promise to meet her the following day. The chaste kiss reminded her of the peace she had felt in his presence earlier in the night and assured her that she was not to fear him. When he left her he didn't call her 'swan' like she had grown accustomed to, which left her feeling a bit rejected.
He turned and walked away from her, being away from him made her feel slightly downtrodden. She had grown accustomed to being with Vlad to the point that she felt lonely without him. It was somewhat like he was her best friend since childhood and he said he was going to move away, the pain she felt.
She walked out of the area and past the stranger and toward the street to hail a cab. It was too late to take the subway and she was too far away from home to walk. When she was safely in a taxi and on her way home, she began to think about the following day. She couldn't wait to see Vlad again. She was ready to learn as much as possible and Vlad was her key to the knowledge she so thirsted for.
