Eri smiled, this child had no idea, "I know there is, I know there are angels out there, they could be disguised as anything, some people say that those who work for the betterment of humanity, like the doctors, the police, the clergy are actual physical manifestations of the celestial beings sent by God to watch over us and protect us." She stopped when she realized she was getting a bit too philosophical. "If that made any sense whatsoever..." she scratched the back of her head, angels and religion were a bit of a sensitive topic for her, considering her past.

Esme sighed, she was slightly hoping that bringing up another world would give her more information about the identity of her companion. Granted it wasn't often that she ran across someone who told her about angels helping human beings. Perhaps she had shared a part about her identity, without actually saying it out loud.
"It's not often that I've come across people who believed there was something more in this world. I've always had reason to believe that there were beings that stalked the night, attempting to lead humans astray... much like the werewolves, demons and vampires that many children were warned against when they were younger and then told didn't exist when they became a bit older. But some may accredit it to my slight Wiccan beliefs, much like many would accredit many of my other opinions to my socialist beliefs. I'm a bit of a social black sheep when it comes to my personal beliefs. Have you ever felt that your opinions have singled you out as slightly different from everyone around you as well?"

"In a way you could say that," Eri told her, deciding to go with an abridged version of her true history, "Back in the past, before I became a police officer, I ran with a certain crowd. Not a gang, no, more like... a charity group... all good people, if a tad boring every so often, peacemakers, you know, anyway... I was very respected amongst that group and even held a certain status. That was until... until my closest friend decided to stab me in the back. He was jealous and wanted what I had and he began to spread rumors about me engaging in... certain "questionable activities." Wasn't true, not in the least, and rightfully, I was upset, and I made some stupid decisions that I realize now I shouldn't have made. I attacked him, and he fought back and it ended up very, very badly for me. As a result, we were both... cast out I suppose you could say and will never be allowed to return, no matter how much I attone for my actions, so I guess... joining the force was my way of staying true to my group's beliefs..." She sighed, looking up at the sky, even though she knew she'd never see the gates of heaven, or the beautiful faces of her friends ever again, unless they were sent to earth. "To this day, I want to see my traitorous friend, give the bastard a piece of my mind, hope he's suffered as much as I have..." her voice lowered to a whisper.

Esme stared at the girl as she told her story, kicked out of a group of good people and a person who believes that angels are humans in public services diguised... this person was peculiar indeed and the bits and pieces she had given her about her past and the power emanating off of her made Esme think that she may have been one of the fallen some of her teachers had told her about. They had warned her about possibly meeting a fallen, that it would be a great honor to do so, but very few ever did... so Esme slightly doubted that there was a chance that that was what she was.
She tested the woman by telling an old folk lore she had heard once on a vacation she had taken, following the theme of the night's sky. "I had heard once that a comet is just an angel falling from God's grace, but they can only do so by starting fights, like you had in your cult for the good. Do you believe that that's true... do you even believe an angel could ever fall from God's grace in the first place?"

Eri shrugged, sensing the girl testing her, "Angels never truly fall from God's grace, it takes quite a bit to anger Him... I believe... but He still watches over his Fallen, but there are those whom He feels would be much better off serving on Earth, particularly those who are a little more rough around the edges, He really wants what's best for all His children. Angel and human alike." She could tell the child was beginning to guess, and it was much better for Esme to come up with her own conclusions, she was a smart girl, that was why she didn't want to come right out and tell her.

Yes, this woman either knew so much about God's Grace and Angels because she was a Fallen herself or because she was a crazy theologian. But from the sense of calm she had around this woman, she could tell that she was nothing like the priest she had met a few days earlier in the same garden. This woman was not going to force her belief's down Esme's throat but she knew what was right and wrong in the long run. But Esme tried to test her one more time, if she were truly a normal theologically inclined human Esme was pretty sure she'd know what her answer would be to Esme's next question.
"Do you believe that God feels that us humans who have powers that others do not are inherently evil? Or is it that God bestowed upon those few a power that should be used to help humans and only if they use that power for evil are they then viewed as 'unclean' in God's view. Or is it that the humans who are different in some way were created by Satan or Lucifer or whoever you'd like to call the other one?"

"It does depend on how gifted humans use their powers. Having special abilities doesn't nessecarily denote evil, like there are some vampires who try not to feed on humans, everyone, even angels have the potential to choose between what's good and what's bad, for example, a man who has super strength can choose to lift a wrecked car off himself or off a child first, and hypothetically, one or the other could die as a result, he's no less evil for choosing to lift the car off of himself at the cost of the child's life so long as he's able to rationalize why he made the choice," Eri shrugged, "and by the way, Lucifer's just the Prince of Hell... the other guy... I can't even say his name."

Esme sighed, perhaps it would be much easier for her to say it outright, this person was going to get her no where unless she had the guts to say it to her face 'hey, I know you're a fallen angel, so why don't you talk to me like you would any other fallen? I'm a witch and pretty much the confidante of this entire world here in London. Let me know what's going on in your mind.' But Esme knew that wasn't the greatest plan.
"How about witches and warlocks?" Esme ventured, maybe she would get what she was hinting at and perhaps mention it before she did, "Most humans feel that they do the work of the devil, how would you, as an apparent theologian in your spare time, if not a bit more, view those beings? Are they intrinsically evil as well, or just merely a different form of the human with the Samsonian strength?"

Eri laughed outright as she decided to take a little peak into Esme's thoughts. "Witches and Warlocks... some were fakes, ploys to get rid of the unpopular villagers, but the real thing? They're merely misunderstood by the common folk, like you for example, if you were to reveal your secret to one of your professors, they might as well have you locked up for what they deem preposterous and delusional. I'd be on suspension on a shrink's couch or out of a job, that's why we've gotten this idea that those who are special are inherently evil, because they have abilities that normal mortals cannot hope to comprehend and therefore write-off as bad because they are afraid.

Esme winced as she felt an extra weight on her mind and then the woman, without even asking any further questions, went ahead and pegged Esme as a witch. This was the first time anyone had truly done that and Esme was astounded.
"I have given you much less credit than you deserve, never once has anyone, other than Vlad, been able to peg me as a witch correctly without my showing or telling them. None of my teachers had lied when they said it would be a great honor to meet a fallen, even though most of them were frauds like the ones you have spoken to. And of course, my professors would think me crazy if I told them the truth. Not that those in this world do not think me crazy for studying to be a lawyer on the side."
Esme grew silent, hoping her companion would be able to lead the conversation from that point on. She had gotten this person to admit herself for being a fallen, her job was complete in her eyes.
