A laugh here. "I am certain the Vatican has much to say of me, my dear. They can't be fond of one who lives by drinking the blood of others, even those few willing others. It's not in their nature to accept things such as I."
"Then you are wiser than many, and will be judged as foolish by more than that." Those who did not judge were outcasted because everyone else did. Human history was riddled with examples, humans always said that they made mistakes so they might learn from them but they always seemed to repeat one or another of them.
He looked up and down the alley for a moment, and wondered what Ms. Autumn was doing here before he'd arrived. "There does not seem to be much excitement that would need your kind of attending to, Ms. Autumn Walker. I must confess some curiosity as to why you were here when I arrived, though far am I from complaining you were." A small grin.

Autumn smiled, “I always found the Vatican somewhat....how shall i say this, pot calling the kettle black with regard to their distaste at vampires, after all...don’t they drink Jesus’ blood every mass...metaphorical i know...but let’s say me and the catholic church do not see eye to eye on many things.” She had heard rumours that Vlad no longer took human life, that was one of the reasons he was on the council, one of the most famous vampires, and one with many “fans” to feed his hunger. The thought of someone feeding on her was a little weird, Autumn could not imagine offering herself up to that. Possibly why she didn’t have many..well any vampire friends.
“On patrol.” Autumn said with regard to his questions, “We take turns in patrolling known active areas of paranormal and supernatural activity. Tonight was my turn for this area...only a few nights ago there was a demon attack here.” She pushed her hands deep into her pockets, the night air chilling her bones, “Not exactly the most exciting night life for a Fifth operative...” She giggled.

A strange thing that an agent of the fifth should not be of the same mind with the Vatican. Naturally he and Jonas got into the occasional clash but it was never over anything as serious as morality or issues of important opinions. The members of the Council had been selected because they agreed with Jonas on the most significant of the problems they faced. Strange that the Vatican and Fifth should not do the same.
He laughed, a rich, rolling sound that held a just bit of his accent still. Vlad could not help but find the girl’s comparison both truthful and unbearably amusing. The church was metaphorically committing the same act for which they condemned him. A fine thought, that! “If you are not of a mind with the church then, my rose, how did you fall in with the ranks of the Fifth? Why not something less…conflicting?”
The rose was an apt description of the woman he should think upon this, his first impression. Beautiful and delicate in appearance, and graceful as any animal as it sways in the wind, but not without it’s thorns. Thorns were not faults, far from it, but rather the rose was all the more lovely because of them, those things that made it strong.
A smile spread slowly across his face as he listened to her reasons for being in the alley that night. It was not that anything was amusing, but because he was doing very much the same thing himself. “It seems to be the night for such things. Though, I must confess ignorance in regards to the demon attack. Has there been much activity of a demonic nature of late?”

Autumn shrugged “Some shit went down when i was in the army..The Fifth found me, I started working for them, they helped me when my gifts became apparent...” Autumn shrugged again. Many within the fifth were not supporters of the Vatican, and yet The Fifth remained loyal, if doing the Vatican’s dirty words classed as loyal.
“Much activity?” Autumn said with a gasp when Vlad asked, “All hell is breaking loose and we’re only just uncovering the truth as to what is going on...so many clues, and yet more questions rather than answers...” Autumn began to chew on her bottom lip, “We think....Satan and Lucifer are two separate beings, and that Satan is back, or making a play or something....” In truth Autumn still had no idea, no proof or evidence as to what was going on.

Bonds of the most intriguing kind bound Ms. Autumn Walker to the Fifth, it was a type of bond he understood well. Chains of a similar nature were what held the Council together, were what set them apart from the monsters they helped to hunt. Jonas had found and helped each of them in their times of most desperate need. After that, the very thought of abandoning the council was enough to bring a sneer to his face. He would imagine his rose felt something similar in regards to the Fifth and in extension the Vatican. “I understand most clearly, Ms. Autumn.”
He held his tongue when she gasped at his ignorance, responding only with a raised eyebrow, letting her finish speaking rather than calling the girl on her disrespect. All hell was breaking loose, she had said. A tad melodramatic when one talked of demons but he held no doubts she spoke the truth. The idea that Satan and Lucifer were two separate creatures entirely was unique, throughout his centuries of life this was the first he’d heard of it. Jonas often refused talk of demons and hell, so the council learned to avoid the subject.
“If Satan is indeed back for some reason as yet unknown, then from where?” He fell silent, lost in thoughts of what something more full of chaos than Lucifer might bring to the unsteady peace that he’d found. “But surely this is not the place for such talk, far more open to prying ears than our topic necessitates. Wouldn’t you agree? Walk with me, sweet rose?”

Autumn was not sure she approved of this new found nickname Vlad had given her, But she was not one to argue, and in truth found ti sweet. better than half the nicknames she had gained while in the army.
"Certainly..." She said when Vlad said they should walk and part of her, as they moved through the darkened streets was screaming: I am walking in the night with fucking Dracula! Of course she did not speak it, who could blame her being a little star struck.
"What would you do Vlad?" She asked out of the blue, "Part of me so longs to run and hide from this mess, i can only imagine what the Fifth will ask of me in this trying time, and i truly do fear the outcome..."

He offered her his arm gallantly, as if they were back in the times of balls and nobles and she his sweetheart. It was one of the gestures that belonged far in the past and betrayed his true age but prying eyes would naturally assume that he was trying to be charming rather than believe the gesture was natural. Those who did not know that beings existed that could last through centuries could not possibly bring their minds to believe something so outlandish from such an innocent action.
A comfortable quiet fell between the two as they walked through the dark alleys and Vlad found him mind wandering. Such a strange girl, to meet a vampire in the night and have so little reaction, it spoke volumes for her. To many lived in fear of him, or what they thought him to be, it was nice to simply walk with a mortal woman as any other man would.
The silence was broken by her question, though more a confession than an inquiry. "There is no shame in feeling such a natural emotion, no sane creature is without fear. On the contrary, those without fear are by far the most evil things that walk the night. For what has nothing to fear from the darkness but the darkness itself? I have lived centuries and still I fear...."
He stopped walking to face her, addressing now her question of what he would do. "It is often unfair what the universe asks of us. What sets heroes apart from victims is the strength to overcome fear and.." A small smile here. "..disbelief, perhaps even self pity. What would I do? At your age, I would have taken up my sword and charged headfirst into battle." He chuckled to himself for a moment. "But the centuries have made me somewhat wiser. Foolish bravery will not guide you here."
A pause here. "I am the wrong council member to ask for advice, Morgan and even Jonas hold more sense than I ever had. So, in the way of advice I will pass on to you what my father passed on to me before his death. Stay steadfast in what you know is right, govern less with your mind and let your instincts guide you, and above all else know that you never fight alone." A soft smile. "I cannot hope to tell you what to do, dear rose, only you can decide what is right for you as only I can decide the correct path for me."

Autumn smiled and accepted Vlad’s arm, walking along side the vampire trying to hide her fleeting glances and star gazed eyes. The silence wad comfortable, not that strained silence you sometimes get, but a warm one. The winter air cooled against Autumn’s face, her nose turning numb against the light breeze.
Her curiosity peeked when he said he too felt fear, she was shocked, she honestly expected him to be so inhuman, so un touched by emotion. And yet, he was very much human. Autumn smiled at that.
“Yeah, i have spent enough time in warfare Vlad, I have done my fair share of killing for the sake of others. They you never stop being A soldier, i still feel like the new Army recruit sometimes...” She brought her free hand and rubbed the back of her neck, rolling the tense muscles against her shoulder before holding her head straight again.
“Hmmm...” She pondered over his final words, “I hate feeling so utterly....lost..no, that’s not the word...frightened over the coming events, I am not sure any one will come out un scarred from this...I wish it would just go away..”

He placed one hand over Autumn’s, the one that gripped his arm, as they walked side by side and looking like lovers from days of old. He appeared the gracious gentleman courting the beautiful woman, long walks to get to know one another and convince her of his affections and position. Their feet created echoing steps against the walls of the buildings as they walked deeper into the series of alleyways and Vlad listened to the relaxing, even rhythm of their footfalls.
The past shaped the future, it was not uncommon for a person to always feel a certain way even if others saw them to be different. Autumn still felt like a low ranking soldier, not a strange thing since she held no control over her current situation. He could feel the tension rolling off the girl in waves. “I would say draw comfort from the fact that you fight for yourself this time instead of others.” He couldn’t pretend to know what fighting for a goal not your own felt like but he did not like the thought.
“The monster does not simply disappear if you pull the covers over your head. Fate will make you face your monsters one way or another, better that it be on your own terms rather than be forced into the battle.” He replied simply, voice pleasantly bland.

She laughed at the last statement, “No they do not Vlad, In my experience, even if i close my eyes i still see them...” She arched her brow and shrugged it off, being clairvoyant had its down sides, she saw everything in the world, especially those things that were not meant to be seen.
“Enough of this depressing talk,” She smiled then, looking at Vlad, her star stuck feelings fading, “ How much of the myth is true...I mean...did Bram Stoker have it right? I am sure everyone asks you these questions, you don't have to answer, well..i can force you and say it’s for Fifth Research reasons...” She joked, relaxing from with the vampire then. She brought her cold hand up to push aside that annoying strand of long hair that kept falling over her hazel eyes.
