He chuckled dryly at her observation of Lucifer’s love of humor in the wrong places and put the book aside for the moment. Obviously he’d been bugging this one a lot if she knew enough to be sarcastic. Judas’s eyes followed her movements as she worked the stress from the muscles of her neck before she went back to being uncomfortable. He savored that moment of normalcy as he always did. It wasn’t often that someone was able to forget who and what he was long enough to be themselves.
Judas shook his head at her question and watched her posture transform to show her exhaustion. “Because it is and not just the human race, if I had to bet I’d say everyone is going to have one hell of a choice to make sometime in the very near future.” Satan or Lucifer. Did they pick the prince of hell who they all at least thought they knew? Or was the god of chaos impressive enough to bring about the want for change even in the human realms?
“Funny you should use ‘spill out and destroy humanity’ since the last time something like this happened was the flood with that whole ark incident. Of course that happened long before even I was born, shocking I know, but it’s been a common topic in hell lately. They’re worried that Satan will bring about another flood and wash their playthings off the earth again.” He shrugged apologetically at using the term ‘playthings’ to refer to the human race. “Naturally God was involved in the flood and I have no idea as to what he or the angels are planning in regards to this mess ,for obvious reasons, or if Satan even needs God to pull off something that catastrophic again.”

Autumn frowned, "So it's a waiting game..." She let out a long sigh and shook her head. She was at a loss what to tell her superiors, or the other factions of The Fith through out the world. All eyes were upon her and it was starting to stress her out. She allowed her bright hues to wander over Judas and wondered how some one, whose soul was being eternally tortured in hell could remain so calm. She wondered if he had always had such control. She had a thousand questions but would not ask them, she couldn't because she doubted they would make him comfortable and she did not wish to piss off The Council.
"Well, I would say i ahve faith in the human race, but, we all know how easy it is to sway and take the wrong side...not that there is a right side in this situation."

Judas nodded his head at Autumn’s comment. Waiting game was a good way to put it, the two hadn’t really started fighting yet which made it impossible to know which way to jump. He started humming the jeopardy theme under his breath sarcastically. He hadn’t actually ever watched the show but he’d heard the theme used in situations like this before. It really was catchy.
He watched her eyes as they looked him over fully and wondered what she was thinking. There were a few questions that anyone who knew what being a soul collector involved always wanted to ask and he guessed that was probably what was running through her mind. What made a soul good enough for heaven or bad enough for hell? What was hell like? That was the most common and the few times he’d actually answered his answer was always that they didn’t want to know what hell was like. He felt the pain of his burning soul constantly and he would for the rest of eternity. It was the worst pain imaginable, or more likely it wasn’t possible to imagine pain as intense. It was why the power to go unseen came in handy, it was impossible to hide the pain all the time. Two thousand years had given him more control over his features and posture but in his mind he still screamed in agony. It was also the reason he didn’t stay in public for long periods of time. The pain got him noticed and Judas wasn’t exactly the type who enjoyed the spotlight.
He laughed loud and full for the first time in he couldn’t remember how long. “The human race is the wrong thing to have faith in. I’m not saying go join the church choir but humans are lousy, honor less and greedy.” He of all people should know, he drug enough demon marked souls to hell. Of course, there was also the fact that history would have called him a prime example of lousy, honor less and greedy when he’d been human.

Autumn lightly giggled and watched him curisouly as he started humming what she identified as the jeapody theme. Strange, she thought and arched her brow toward him. He was everything she had expected him to be and yet, he seemed so human, had she honestly expected something else? She did not know, all she knew was the Vatican hated everything about him, but she had a different view on his actions. Firstly, she did not beluiev everything written, but knew, the truth behind his name, was he must of done what had been stated, to in turn be damned. But she thought then, and before she knew it was speaking out loud,
“Humans are exactly what they were meant to be, individuals with free will, though, i believe, though some of our actions cause great harm, if we did not make these mistakes, then the final outcome would be far different. I mean, if you had not done what you did, Jesus would not of died for our sins, correct, i meamn, if you believe in all that Christian hoo ha...” She bit down on the inside of her cheek and looked at Judas, “I am so sorry, I have issues with not thinking before i speak...”

Judas watched her giggle and raised his own brow in answer to hers, asking an unspoken question as to what she’d found funny. He’d been told before that he wasn’t what most expected from one of the most hated people in history and he certainly wasn’t like any of the other members of the council. The rest were very proper, polite and well spoken. He was the wild card…again, at least he was starting to get used to being the outsider.
He was about to argue with her when she said that humans were what they were meant to be, when he realized that she was completely right. He didn’t believe in fate, if he did then that would mean he believed it had been his destiny to burn in agony for the rest of time, but he could buy the idea of free will and choices having a huge impact on the future.
Her next comment caught him off guard, habit making his face go carefully blank of emotion. Fifth agents had guessed the truth of why he was damned in the past, but none so fast as this one. She was quick, it seemed to be his week for quick witted women. She was blunt too, which was normally something he could admire though it was harder to admire bluntness on a topic he preferred to avoid completely. It was funny to hear his life referred to as Christian hoo ha.
“You mean if someone hadn’t done what history blames me for.” He amended tactfully. He’d spent centuries dancing around this topic. No one knew the truth for sure expect the Vatican and Judas himself, he intended to keep it that way. “You should really work on that.” He said when she confessed a problem of not thinking before she spoke. “You never know when a habit like that might get you into trouble.”

Autumn shrugged then, figuring she had just ruined any chance of an ally in Judas, her tact lacking.
“Oh i get in trouble where ever i go...” She smirked, “I really should start working on avoiding it...but, it’s part of the job right?”
Yeah, vampires, demons, angels, her job was seriously messed up compared to most her age, but, then again, after having your eyes widened to see the truth in the supernatural, she could not exactly go back to a day job.
“I am sorry if i have offended you, I seriously need to work on my social skills...” Her eyes lowered then, looking down at her feet as she chewed on her lower lip.

Her comment brought a smirk to his face. He supposed it was a part of her job to get into trouble wherever she went. A member of the fifth couldn't really try and avoid trouble, what with their whole purpose being to charge headfirst into it. Of course that charging usually was followed by realizing they were in way over their heads. Not that the council was much better, the only difference between the fifth and the council was that he and the other council members were a bit more durable than the average human.
"Yeah, you've got the right of it there." He said, knowing that she hadn't really expected an answer to her question.
Judas let out a sigh as Autumn apologized. He was immediately reminded of his meeting with Esme only a few days before. It seemed like he couldn't go through one conversation without making the other person feel bad for something. It wasn't the girl who needed to work on her social skills. "Look kid, I'm a cranky old man. You've got nothing to apologize for."

Autumn smiled then, "Kid?" She giggled lightly, "I should keep you around to give me ego boosts....I have not been called a kid for a long time.."
She pushed back into the sofa, getting more comfortable, "So how did you get to be with The Council?" She had heard odds and ends of the stories, but nothing could beat hearing it from the horses mouth so to speak.
"I mean, You're a soul collector, doesnt your profession so to speak play at odds with working as a council member?"

He raised his eyebrow at her. “Happy to help, anytime you’re feeling down just think how young you are compared to me. Though considering I’ve been around for about two thousand years now, I’m not sure that’s saying much.” It was a joke but he said it with a straight face save for the one eyebrow, he’d never been particularly good at telling jokes. Sarcasm came much easier to him, go figure.
“We all joined the council in much the same way. Personally? It was a few years after I’d been ‘recruited’ to collect demon marked souls.” He started, lost in the memory for now at least. “Jonas found me while I was….working….in England. I don’t know if you’ve met him personally, but he has quite the presence.” He chuckled dryly. “Anyway he took me out for a drink and explained this idea he had for a new way for folks like us to live. We’d protect humanity instead of feed off it, he said, make sure you never knew what those bumps in the night really were. He made it sound so great, like we had another choice rather than just a life filled with death and betrayal.” He stopped, realizing he’d said more than he’d meant to. “So, very long story short, we became friends and when the others joined us the council was officially formed.”
He shrugged at her second question. “It does make things more difficult but it’s no harder than living with a demon or going against your natural instincts. We all…struggle…but it’s our choice and knowing you have others to watch your back makes it that much easier to deal with.”

Autumn smiled when she caught the hint of sarcasm in his voice and nodded in good humour. He certainly was a strange one, this Judas, but had she expected anything different? No, he held such composure and grandure she was utterly impressed. “I have yet to meet the elusive Jonas,” She said softly, pushing that once again annoying stray strand of hair out of her eyes and back behind her hear, “I can only imagine him to be an impressive man.”
“And i assume i can count on the council to have my back and the members of The Fifth’s back yes?” She smiled, “As i know i would do what was needed to protect an ally...”
