Description:
Long naturally dark brown almost black hair that is graded to many different lengths with a difference in length by about 4 inches from one to the other creating an almost arrow effect when her hair is behind her shoulders to fit in with the human world she maintains a human style. Standing at 5’3” She is your average Roman looking woman. Her eyes when hidden are dark chocolate brown while using her power becomes an almost white gray. Her hair also lightens to an almost white when in her true angelic form.
Unlike Midnite she is not an upper level angel but she is one of the few under him that survived the first war with the Demon lord Satan. Holding four wings of a blue hued light gray much like her eyes with the underside of white though the flight feathers are of a banded black and white. Much like a Gray Kite a bird of prey that is closely related to her animal of call or her eyes on the world.
Personality:
Shoftiel is always calm, always quiet as she knows the paths of man and can read about their past, present or even their future. Through her eyes God sees and this doesn’t really effect her as much as it should. She loves every form of life and usually surrounds herself with living creatures no matter their kind. She is a slightly jaded angel (explained in her history) when it comes to humans. While she bowed to them as God requested she was drawn to stand before most others did. It was at that time when she was given her orders the books.
History:
Each name was given to her for a reason and it is what she is known as to many religions surrounding Christianity and Judaism. Shoftiel as she is called by the Jews, means “The Judge of God.” Sophia which is clearly female and given by the Modern day Church of Rome means “Wisdom” and Sofiel the most common of all and given to her when the Vatican discovered her sitting in their hall where a statue once stood. The Angel of Nature, arouses within humans a deep love for nature. she also keeps records of souls living and dead. She is the Angel of the books, unlike Azrael who writes the names of the dead and collects them Sofiel keeps a record of all the souls on Earth, in heaven and those in hell, she is constantly writing in the books or the books are constantly writing themselves.
Her first encounter with other angels was under the leadership of the angel known as Cassiel. They were sent to drive the demonic forces far from the gates of heaven keeping their family safe. Then God created man from Clay. But not only the man; Adam, he also created woman from the same substance and she was called Lilith. Sofiel was there guiding and watching them interact with the animals and nature but then the two humans explored themselves and Adam sought dominance over Lilith even if it was only in the bed. He wanted to be on top and because she saw them as equals she disagreed.
While Sofiel was confused at this God was informed and Lilith was banished for her disobedience. With one swift motion of Sofiel’s hammer Lilith was sent from the garden and Adam was also punished with solitude for many years. Lilith confronted Sofiel many times but Sofiel could not help her for Lilith was already too dark and jaded for her path to move from where it was. Then Cassiel was sent after the woman but he was too late.
Those eyes watched when Adam prayed to god for someone to share Eden with. And God put Adam into a sleep and from there he took from him a rib and formed Eve. Not to be beneath him but to stand beside him. Walking with him through time.
Many years were spent teaching Adam and Eve to love and respect nature but they were lured to sin against God. Sofiel’s hammer fell twice more and from the garden they were sent. The animals on the outside of the gates were very much the same as those inside, only now they would strike, some bore poisons others used their teeth and fangs to tear into one another. Sofiel watched as her animals became vicious and protective of themselves. Skittish at times. Sofiel became sad and withdrew herself from the world. She returned just before Christ was born and with other angels brought the world signs.
After this again she withdrew from the world but returned to earth to a man who had a link to her, he became obsessed with writing. His name was Michel de Nostredame or as he is presently known… Nostradamus. He seemed to know what was in her books; he wrote many things and even when she asked God why he was so linked to her writings about the future. His reply was simple. “It is necessary.”
In many years later she was sent to guide an elderly priest who was going to be the Pope his name taken was Innocent IX. To stop an event from happening but he could not he was not accepted by the cardinals and he was assassinated and his body burned. He was the only Pope to have his body burned. When Sofiel attempted to stop this she had been chained, perhaps the only angel that was chained and called a Demonic force. Due to the Cardinal’s faith she could not break the chains. She was forced into the lower levels of the Vatican. And there she remained crying in agony for nearly two hundred years, any time a Priest would come close to discovering her they turned up dead the next day.
She was discovered by a child of a fallen and a human assistant to the church. He said “God sent me to break the faith of old and set you free.” He whispered words in Latin and just as he did the chains rusted with age allowing her wings their freedom. She stepped to the bared door and it opened. With the child she left the Vatican in her rage against the humans that locked her away she drew their souls from their believed resting place and tossed them into hell as she judged them unfit to be in heaven.
After this she found Cassiel and remained by ‘his’ side never far from her general. Always reading her books always writing in the pages. Watching the world of souls, even those of the fallen angels and those that choose mortality when bounded to a mortal in love.
In the modern world she keeps her Roman look but holds dark hair and her wings are hidden for the most part. She however doesn’t hide the fact that she is an angel and should anyone actually ask she will tell them in riddles and rhymes just like the very opaque predictions that were in the books of Nostradamus.
Powers/Training/Experience/weaknesses
Angel of Nature- She can talk to animals and knows what is in their mind. She is the angel that sends protectors of the human race in animal form, or one of them. She is the reason humans have been raised by wild animals and not killed by them. One very strong example would be the brothers raised by a she wolf.
The Judge of God- God presides over all but this is the angel that drops the hammer on a soul she is the voice one hears at the gate of St. Peter. St. Peter reads from her book of the living and the dead he reads their life for them and the lessons and tests that were put forth by the angels, he tells them where they have excelled and where they have failed. She just writes it down and at the end of their history she is given a message by god. “Heaven or Hell.”
She is wise on all things pertaining to the past the present and the future. She has seen every event of great importance and no matter what she does or the signs she places into the world it always seems to come to pass as humans think they are too small and the event too great to stop.
Men or women of great faith are her weakness should they see her demonic she will be susceptible to the power of their prayer.

The Cries of an angel echoed down the halls, out of the depth of the Vatican who hid her from the sunlight. Hid her behind the back of God. They were afraid if he ever knew what they had done to one of their own that they would be destroyed. They treated her as nothing. Sofiel had gone missing for two hundred years. Cassiel believed that the forces of hell had taken his final friend and companion in the fight against them. But God sent a child into the Vatican.
He found his way down to the door he saw the aura of the angel the bright halo that surrounded her. She was no demon like the others hidden in the higher levels. It was almost like they had been ashamed of imprisoning her. “Sofiel...” he called.
“I am called Shoftiel by the Jews, Sofiel by the Vatican many year ago. Why are you here child?” she questioned. “I do not see your path, why is it hidden to me?”
“Because I do not have a path for God has sent me to free you, my path ends here. I believe you are an angel of god. God has sent me here to break the Faith of old and set you free.” He whispered many a word in Latin a prayer to the angel that she was. The Chains began showing their age rapidly. Slowly they fell away from her body and wings.
“Your path doesn’t end here. Child.” She whispered as she approached the door. Pressing her hands against it the metal opened against her will the sound of it creaking was silenced as an aura of light surrounded it. “No man will touch you.” Her clothing became white, her length of hair curled around her those wings curled around the boy before her. “Those that look upon us will not see us.”
They walked the way back up through the underground tunnels of the Vatican up into the church where she made her presence known after placing the boy in one of the pews. She moved to the tablet where the names of the Popes lay. A dot was placed by several of them that knew she was down there. Those that put her down there and then she summoned the book of the dead. That book showed her where they had been placed. Those in Heaven were ripped from their resting place and judged again. She then sent them into hell quickly and easily. A personal hell located in the depths of the Vatican where their wailing can still be heard from the room she was once locked in.
