Vampires.
Known originally as Stigori, it is only during the 19th century that they became known as vampires. One of the most notorious creature of the supernatural world, they are large in numbers. The Vatican estimate there are over 1.5 billion vampires in the world. They are pale in appearance, often with flushed cheeks from feeding. They have retractable elongated canines, which remain hidden until the vampire needs to feed. A vampire does not age, as long as they keep feeding.
Feeding:
Vampires need to feed on human blood to survive, in effect to reanimate their dead bodies and replenish their cells. They need to fill their whole body of blood, which can mean taking one human per night, in affect killing to survive, or drinking from several humans per night.
If a vampire does not feed they slip into the sleeping death, their bodies take on the appearance of ancient, old corpses and they simply lay, their minds active while their bodies slowly decay away.
Turning:
To turn a human into a vampire is difficult and often only those elder vampires have the ability to do so. A human must be drained, slowly of blood, repeatedly over a course of a few weeks. To drain the human to quickly results in death and they do no return as a vampire. Finally, after much care the human is drained fully and given some of the vampire’s blood to drink. For a time the human remains human, but after a week, they seem to die of natural causes. They awake, two nights later as a vampire.
Powers:
The older the vampire the more powerful they become, so powers vary from vampire to vampire.
Newly turned vampires automatically are stronger and faster than humans, and are, immortal. Immortal ion the sense they cannot age and are hard to kill. Vampires have enhanced hearing; they can smell blood, fresh blood from miles away.
As vampire get older, reaching up to one hundred years they begin to gain more supernatural powers as they leave their humanity behind them. They become stronger, can pick up cars, and break trees. Only older vampires have the ability to levitate and only those who are over 500 years old have the ability to fully fly.
All vampires have the ability of telepathy and mind control, as they get older their abilities of suggestion grows stronger.
Only one vampire has ever been known to have the ability to change shape, and that is Vlad Tepes.
Weaknesses.
Newly turned vampires cannot withstand the sun light and they soon begin to burn and catch on fire. Older vampires, those over two hundred or so, can withstand the sunlight, to an extent, though they must remain covered with sun glasses and hat. Vampires do not die when the sun rises, and remain mobile, though all their powers become much less when it is day, their supernatural abilities seam linked to darkness.
Holy items have no effect on vampires of recent years; it seems only to affect those who were of religious nature in their human life. Such as, those who are affected, Holy water causes deep burns on their body and holy items cannot be looked upon by some vampires.
The only way to kill a vampire is to put a stake through their heart and cut of their head then burn the body.
