Jonas had departed to his Rooms after the meeting. He sat with his legs crossed, floating in thin air before his large fireplace. The fireplace did not have a chimney, and appeared to be the maw of some vast creature, into which a place to make a fire had been set. This was not too far from the truth, large gemstone like yellow eyes bulged from the corner of the mantle, with a slab of black obsidian laid across what seemed the bridge of the creature's nose and horns. Various small items decorated the mantle, though candlesticks and various Arabian treasures seemed to dominate. He stared into the fire, as if he were looking for answers within its dancing light. Jonas was so rarely surprised, that he took such events in one of two ways; he was either delighted, or annoyed.
I would think by now you were used to it. Wasn't I your first big surprise?
His Sitting Room, for that was what he called this space, festooned with circles of comfortable armhchairs, and piles of Arabian rugs and cushions to rest upon, several chaise lounges; he had covered it in comfort and made it a space where one could take their ease, even with the weight of the world on one's shoulder. The Room was open to all, especially to those that wished to have a quiet word with him. Jonas had invited Morgan to join him for a drink, to discuss her new Apprentice, and to get her more balanced opinion on the state of things; their wise Owl, their Pallas Athena.
I'd sure like a look at her wisdom.
Jonas sighed, "Do curb yourself. There are serious matters afoot."
All the more reason to get my kicks before it all goes up in flames.

Morgan wasn't surprised when Jonas asked her back to his sitting room. She was looked upon as the wise woman of the group. There were times she wished she was seen as more but most of the time she was happy to just be involved. Morgan was never one to pick favorites among a group, though she did admit that she trusted Jonas far more than she would Judas, and to a point even more than Vlad. Jonas wouldn't run off and tell anyone all about her before she met them.
She walked into his room and curtseyed to the older man. "Jonas you requested my presenced?" She made it a question and didn't let it show how happy she was that he'd called her back to speak with him. "I understand that there are probably things we should be discussing, how are you now my dear friend?" The meeting had left her a bit discontented, but that was normal. Finding out that the entire town was going up in flames was never a good thing to realize.
She moved to where he was floating and she moved her dress so that she could sit comfortably. It was hard to be comfortable in fashion that was more popular when her brother was King but she somehow managed to be comfortable, and never really adapted to the styles of changing times. She smoothed out the dress and sighed softly "So what is it you wished to discuss Jonas?"

Jonas sensed Morgan’s approached and turned to see her approach. He put his feet down as if he were in nothing but a high stool and not in mid-air. He smiled at her approached, and held out his hands to her. “A great many things, Morgan, and I am hoping to have your unfiltered opinion on the state of things.” Jonas shrugged elegantly, “I am concerned for all of you. This visit of Satan’s to Vlad has me – discomfited.”
Worry about your ass, since its my ass too.
He moved to sit beside her and took her hand, “Would you like a drink?”
I find that conversation, like sex, is always best when lubricated. I love that movie.
Jonas smiled, “I wished to see how you were. We so rarely get to catch up these days, and I feel a need to pause and smell the roses, and you have always been a rose in this House, Dear Morgan.” He took a breath, and appeared to relax a bit, “Tell me about your Esme, if there is more to tell. How talented is she?”
Smooth. But I’m getting’ tired of Shakespeare. Switch to Byron, he was all blood and necrophilia.

Morgan nodded at him, it was nice that he was concerned for them, and it good that he wished for her opinions. She had never been one to blurt everything out when the others were there. But with Jonas she could be honest and unfiltered. She nodded when he asked if she'd like a drink. "Yes please, I don't care what but a drink would be nice."
Listening to him speak was always nice. "It is nice to catch up dear. You have always been so charming, calling me a rose, I doubt I will be the rose much longer. My dear student will take that position." Smiling she went to tell him about Esme "She's unlike most that I've met in these modern times. She's beautiful and well spoken, I think she'll be like a breath of fresh air for all of us. Though I believe Vlad has made her a bit intimidated when it comes to you." She shook her head "Though since she is my student you will understand my not letting her be alone with you."

Jonas nodded and smiled gently. He patted her hand and gestured over a low table. A warm scent wafted from a plain earthen carafe, and he poured two cups full of warm spiced wine. “It’s a very old kind of red wine, Morgan. I doubt it’s made any more. It was used to drink, always warm with spices, to both soothe and comfort you on a cold desert night. It was also, coincidentally, boiled and used in the disinfecting of wounds.” He handed her the wooden cup, each one of the cups were carved with woodlands scenes containing fantastical creatures that frolicked about the cup and within it.
Curb the history lessons, Mister Wizard.
He tilted his head slightly as he met her eyes, and with his free hand, gently touched her face. “Oh, Morgan, my Dear Lady, you will always be my Rose.” Jonas listened to her describe Esme, and hoped she was everything Morgan wanted in a student and everything the Council needed in another ally. He was never against more people, more guests in the house.
Especially if they’re Babes.
Jonas smiled after sipping his wine, “Did he? What did the Count tell the poor Child?” He nodded, and sighed, “I do understand that, Morgan. I did promise to be on my best behavior, and I will hold Samyaza to that as well.”
Think so? Huh. Over Seven Thousand Years and you still never see the cracks in the sidewalk…

Morgan took the red wine from him and took a sip. She didn't really care much for the history behind the wine but it tasted good. "Thank you for the wine Jonas, you are always a King among men when it comes to hospitality." She smiled at him.
When she met his eyes and his hand touched her face she blushed, which was quite unlike the sorceress. "I am always glad to be your Rose my dear Jonas" She smiled as he seemed happy to hear about Esme. When he seemed to to want to hear what Vlad said to Esme she smile. "He told her you were intimidating my dear one. I told her that you were not really intimidating and that I would be there when she is with you. I am not worried about your behavior, or that of Samyaza. You have never let him be a disturbance to my and therefore I don't believe he will be a disturbance to Esme."

“You are very kind.” Jonas smiled, “I am glad that you enjoy the wine.” He smiled as she drank it, tilting his head slightly when she blushed. “Of course you are my Rose, and have been.” He caressed her cheek fondly, and listened to her speak abut Esme.
You do remember that she’s the villain in half a dozen of her stories?
He nodded, “I will not frighten the child. Nor will Samyaza.”
Fear is not the feeling I want to inspire.
Jonas smiled despite Sam’s comment. “And you think this young woman will be of immediate help to us? I do not doubt you, my Dear, but I am curious about what this Child is already capable of.” He caressed her cheek once again, smiling as he did so, pleased to have a moment with her, and then leaned back slightly in his seat, slipping his arm around her and drinking more wine. “I would not risk her in something beyond her skills. Nor would you, I know.”
