Name: Cadence Williams
Species: Werewolf
Age, Gender: 28, Female
Description: Cadence is wild, feral. She has short, deep brown hair that doesn’t reach far past the bottoms of her ears. She has green eyes that are the color of a mossy forest floor, grey-green with some brown in the mix. They always seem to have a sharp edge to them, like her wolf is peaking through at you. She has perfectly shaped eyebrows, long eyelashes and a naturally tan, clear complexion. Cadence’s lips are full and softly pale. She doesn’t wear much makeup but will on occasion wear some eyeliner and lip gloss. She has a petite but curvy build. Cadence can usually be found in casual clothes, most often faded (from wear not style) jeans and a tank-top with a light jacket over the top of it. She is also fond of jewelry, though naturally not the silver kind.
Her wolf form is the typical wolf-man, or woman, form. Her fur is a deep, red brown and her eyes gain that reflective quality that all animals have. It also looks savage, the kind of thing that would send you running back the direction you came from. She gains long, fang like teeth and her face looses its human shape for a wolf muzzle. She stands much taller than her human body and the arm and leg joints look like they aren’t quite made for walking on two legs.
Personality: True to her name, which means rhythmic, Cadence marches to the beat of her own personal drum. She’s not the kind of person who you’d see spending hours in a library and isn’t book smart but she makes up for it with her ability to read people. She is carefree and doesn’t really give a damn about what the rest of the world thinks about her. Cadence is wildly independent and the kind of person who is at home wherever they go. She’s the first to crack a joke, whether it’s appropriate or not, and the first to laugh at one, if it’s good. She is outgoing and perfectly satisfied with who she is and where she sits in the grand scheme of things. Not optimistic exactly, because she’s fairly realistic about the world, but she’s not the type to wallow in doom and gloom either. She believes that there is a way out of anything if you work at it hard enough. Cadence isn’t afraid to speak her mind or give someone a good kick in the ass if she thinks they need it. She firmly believes in hard work and can’t stand sitting still for long. After years of trying to fight what she is, Cadence has finally accepted it and even learned to enjoy some parts of being a werewolf.
Character History: Her childhood was pretty uneventful so I’ll skim over it very briefly so that we can get to the interesting bits. Cadence grew up in a normal, every day family with a typical, middle class house in a very ordinary neighborhood in Washington state, USA. She was an only child and her parent’s perfect little girl. She was in drama in high school and not really popular, but not an outcast either. Everything about her life was, well, medium and she liked it that way. There, that settled, let the interesting stuff begin….
Cadence was a senior in high school and was finally dating a boy that she’d liked since middle school named Kaiden. Kaiden had always had that air of mystery around him, like he had a huge secret that kept him from getting close to anyone. He was a troubled soul and Cadence had always wanted to wrap him in her arms until the bad in the world went away. Well, now she had that chance. Kaiden and Cadence, cute right? Anyway, like most high school couples, they decided to go to the prom with each other.
The prom was everything Cadence had hoped it would be. Romantic, lots of slow dancing, pictures with her date and friends, flowers…it was just perfect. Near the end of the dance, Kaiden led her outside for some private time together. They kissed and groped in the cool night air until prom was over. It was two weeks before the full moon.
On the full moon, Cadence shape shifted for the first time. It was the most painful thing that she could have ever imagined, she laid on the floor of her bedroom and thought she was going to die. She woke up the next morning with absolutely no memory of what had happened the night before, she figured that she’d blacked out.
The next few months were exactly the same. The day after the full moon, she’d wake up with lost time and try and dismiss it. Missing person reports were filed in the town and the bodies they found were torn to bits, like they’d been attacked by some sort of animal. The police force began to search the woods for a rabid bear, or…wolf. She started college at the local school.
As the years rolled on, Cadence began to remember more and more about the nights of the full moon. She was able to hold onto some semblance of her humanity when her body shifted, attacking deer and other woodland animals. The missing person reports stopped shortly after.
Once she realized what she was, she decided it was time for a change of scenery. She had told herself that if she wasn’t in the same town, then everything else would change to, that for some reason that she wouldn’t try and explain logically, the town had created this beast inside of her and if she could just get away then everything would make sense again. She packed what she could fit in her backpack, took the money from the family ‘emergency jar’ and made her way to London. Cadence had wanted to see London since she’d been a kid and then had seemed like a pretty good time.
She ran out of money fast and had to swallow her fears of someone noticing she disappeared on the full moon and get a job. She took a job working afternoons at a pub called The Marine. Cadence figured that if she worked afternoons then she could recover in time for work on the day after the full moon and that she’d be getting off work early enough so that she didn’t scare off the patrons. It turned out to be a good fit.
Cadence has been in London for two years now and is finally, after ten years, comfortable with at least some parts of being a werewolf. She still works at The Marine and has a small apartment in the residential area of London.
Powers: She is an older werewolf and has learned to use the strength, speed and enhanced senses that her beast provides even in human form. She can easily pick up a car if she wanted. Cadence retains her humanity while in wolf form. Weaknesses: Silver, though she can be killed by normal means like any other werewolf, it just takes longer. Cadence can only shift on the night of the full moon.
Family/Ties: Her family is still in the US. The closest thing she has to a tie would be her boss and coworkers at The Marine.
RP Sample:
It was after work and Cadence was walking through the woods on the outskirts of London. She’d never been the outdoorsy type before she’d become a werewolf but now it felt so good just to walk amongst the trees, grass and wildflowers. She was a part of all this now, a part of nature, she belonged here. She could hear the wind rustling the leaves of the trees over head, could feel the grass bend beneath her bare feet, could smell the sweet musk of the critters that dashed into their hiding places when she got to close. It was beautiful, like a symphony that touched each of the senses, and it all seemed to say simply, welcome.
Cadence took off her jacket, letting the playful breeze blow against her arms where the tank top left them bare. It tossed the locks of her hair about, though it was too short to get in her face. Cadence found a clear spot on the ground and stretched out with her hands forming a pillow behind her head. She laid there and just let incredible peace of the forest wash over her. It felt so good to have a place where she belonged, an escape from the prying eyes and ears of the human world. Humans didn’t understand, how could they? Cadence doubted anyone would believe her even if she told them. After all, werewolves weren’t real, they were just a thing out of scary stories and superstitions, right? No, humans didn’t understand, but the forest did.
