Demons
Demons are not to be confused with fallen Angels and Vice versa. The High level Demons pre-date the Christian bible, and scholars show demons have been in every culture and every civilisation under various names. A demon is a malevolent spirit or being that has no soul and no humanity or compassion. They are pure evil and care only for themselves and no one else. The origin of demons is sketchy and there are various theories. Many believe Demons were once Fey, who enjoyed the natural trickery and mischievous nature too much and became dark and twisted in nature. This of course, is only one theory.
Low level Demons are hell spawn, the result and creation of fallen Angels breeding with High level demons and other supernatural beings. Also Low level demons can be created out of the souls sold to demons or Lucifer. The bigger the sin, the more powerful the demon can be created. This does not happen often.
It is however, common knowledge that Demons do inhabit the realm commonly known as hell, though it is unknown if they originally came from this realm. Demons can take on many forms, many creatures, and many shapes. Though more often than not they leave their physical form behind in the realm of hell to take over bodies. Possession of a human is like a drug for demons, they get the rush of emotions and the feel of humanity, and then they get to eat away at the human’s soul and kill them.
You can sell your soul to a demon, and many a mortal has made deals with these “devils.” Human souls are sold and when the bargain is done, and the human dies later on, the demon collects the soul which boosts their power and stance within the demon realm.
Demons can be seen as soldiers in the army of hell, and it seems to suit some better than others. They do not worship or serve anyone but themselves, but do join forces often with other entities and forces. Demons serve chaos and disorder and suffering, so as long as those three things are key point they will serve others, as long as it serves their needs for chaos and destruction.
Powers:
Demons can enter the human realm in their true form or they can change shape. They can take on any form, though many choose to take on one in particular. Often Demons take on the guise of a familiar for a witch and lure the Witch into evil doing.
Demons can whisper suggestions into the minds of humans, twisting and bending a mortal’s whim and will to the demons advantage.
Demons can become non corporeal and have no shape, leaving their form back in the realms of hell. It is in thin non corporeal form they can attempt to possess a human. Sometimes they have to weaken the mind first, with their suggestive words and wicked tongue, other times they can just rip and force their way inside. It all depends on the power of the demon.
Depending on the level of the demon all depends how well they can control the human they posses, most demons who are recorded as possessing humans are low levelled demons, who cannot in turn control much of the humans motor functions and soon break and burn the body out. More powerful demons can possess a human and the human never knows they are there; the Demon can lay dormant, whispering sweet sickening ideas into the humans mind, plaguing their dreams until one day fully taking on the body.
No human has ever lasted longer than a year when possessed; more often than not they die within 6 months if the demon is not banished. High level demons cannot be banished from an exorcism as they predate Christianity and do not see the bible as sacred. Lower level demons, being the spawn of fallen angels are affected by exorcisms, though very rarely are exorcisms successful, not unless performed by experienced and trained Priests.
Weaknesses.
High level demons all vary, though more often than not they have one weakness and that is if they are separated from their body while possessing a human, they are weaker and lose their powers, they simply have control over the body they are in, nothing else.
Lower level demons are burned by holy relics, holy water and can be banished back to hell by an exorcism.
