The Waiter left as quickly as he had arrived after Roxy had told him that she didn't want anything to drink. And as he left Esme felt her blood rise in hatred for this woman. How could she get the idea that Esme had no life whatsoever and could drop anything and everything to travel a full half-hour from her flat to meet with a person she detested so much. How?
Esme had actually had plans for the following afternoon, she was supposed to be shopping with her mother for her parent's vow renewal. Knowing the case they were going through at that point in time, Esme's mum would cancel on her anyways, but Esme still felt like she was betraying her mother by planning other things for that day.
Roxy had reached the door and turned around to make sure that Esme was going to meet her. Not so much as a question, but a demand and Esme knew better than anything that it would be a bad idea to anger Roxy. She nodded at the question and with that Roxy was gone.
The restaurant became loud once more when Roxy had left, an air of calm filled the room. Esme had missed such a feeling. With the return of the clamor came the return of the Waiter with her whiskey. Esme drank the whiskey quickly and gave the Waiter her credit card.
Hoping not to meet Roxy on her way home, Esme waited 45 minutes, finishing the bottle of wine and talking to a few young men who came to her table before she decided to head home for the night. She didn't want to meet Roxy the following day but she had no idea what else to do that night.

((NEXT NIGHT))
Ruina had gone back to her domain and put together a book containing all the spells she might want to lure Esme into using. Nothing horribly dark, she didn't want the book to scream 'I'm from hell' and in fact a majority were common place karma friendly spells, a few however were less innocent than the others. It also contained a detailed section on familiars. The forms they usually took, the powers they might posses etc. The book was leather bound and looked generally harmless, like an encyclopedia to the untrained eye. The inside was in a multitude of ancient languages but most were nothing you couldn't pick up a book on in a public library. A few were a test for this teacher of hers, if they were any good then they would be able to translate the rest for her.
Ruina walked into the bar she'd been in last night, feeling all eyes on her just like the last time she'd been here. A different waiter led her to an empty table when it was apparent that Esme wasn't there yet. She sat back with an audible sigh, she hated waiting...she always got so...bored.

Esme was running late, but in truth she wasn't that upset. Her lab had run over and her parents had promised they'd try and meet her for dinner later. She couldn't stay and talk with Roxy as long as she had the previous evening and she was actually very happy about it as well.
She arrived at the restaurant and spotted Roxy in a corner. Rather than waiting for a waiter to seat her, she walked over to Roxy and placed her purse on a seat and placed her hands on the table and leaned onto the table.
"I'm sorry I kept you waiting, Roxy. I won't be able to stay too long either, maybe a few drinks: I'm having dinner with my parents later."
With that she pulled out her seat and sat down, crossing her legs and waiting to see what Roxy would say next. She breathed deeply, hoping that it wouldn't be something obnoxious like the nights before had been, but there was no knowing it.

Kept her waiting, AND couldn't stay long? Tsk, Tsk. What a naughty girl, hadn't her mother taught her any manners? Oh well, she was the last one to discourage a bad habit. After all, bad habits were what she lived for. Maybe her parents would be overbearing or just not there enough in the near future and it would drive her over the edge. You could never predict these sorts of things.
She rolled her eyes at the apology. "God, that's annoying. Do you apologize for everything you do? Anyway..." She trailed off and pulled the book out from the bag she'd been carrying it in and set it on the table between them. "Since you can't stay long and all, this is the book I was telling you about."
One smile and the waiter was at their table, she ordered the same drink as she'd had the night before, it had been pretty decent, and turned to Esme, waiting for her to order. Ruina noticed the deep breath, was someone nervous? Or annoyed perhaps? She hoped so.

The moment that the book was set onto the table Esme felt a sense of fear and pain. There was definitely something wrong with that book, it was emanating something that she couldn't place her finger on, let alone stand. She was pretty sure that there was something wrong with that book that she shouldn't trust, but what it was: Esme couldn't figure out.
"I'm sorry, I was brought up to be submissive. Only the perfect women can stand up for themselves while submitting to men, the more powerful of sexes," Esme laughed bitterly.
Esme was becoming increasingly more scared of what was going to happen at this meeting. "Well, what's this book about?" Esme asked, lowering her voice to avoid the prying ears of the normal humans around her

She let out a disgusted scoff. Men the more powerful of the sexes? Pigs would fly! If only this girl could see her deal with Lucifer and Satan, then she'd see how women handled things. After all, what creature that could me led around by the collar at the slightest mention of sex could possibly be more powerful than the one leading it? This girl had it all wrong, women held the key to power and all they had to do was learn how to use it. "You just apologized for apologizing, that's not submissive, that's pathetic."
Ruina laughed, so someone was curious about the book even if she didn't want to admit it. If she wasn't mistaken, Esme almost sounded scared of what might be in the book. Good, fear could motivate action like simple curiosity never could. Of course, that was assuming the girl wouldn't just go and burn the book.
She shrugged nonchalantly and a smile crossed over her face. How to answer such a loaded question. Hmmm..."Can't you feel the power coming off of it? It's a magic book, what else? There's all sorts of stuff in there from simple spells to this really cool section about familiars. You know, those little animals that follow witches around and help them and stuff. I've read it like ten times so I figured I'd share the wealth."
She didn't bother lowering her voice, it wasn't like anyone would believe them anyway if they did happen to hear them over the clanking dishes and countless other conversations. It was cute really that the girl was still worried about being discovered.

Esme uncrossed her legs and crossed them again, the opposite direction. She nervously began to play with her hair. What was so wrong with this woman? Esme's more submissive side though told her that with this woman, the only thing she could do was accept everything she had to say to her. "Perhaps I am pathetic," Esme admitted, her mind protested at this statement, but the logical part of her told her that Roxy was already pretty mad with her and the only thing she could do as submit to her will.
Esme admitted to herself how terrible she felt even sitting near this book, it seemed as if it were stealing all of her strength from her, but it had the small grains of knowledge that she had never been able to learn without anyone's help. She was curious, so much so that she would ignore her better instincts to even touch the book.
She reached across the table and dared to brush her fingers across the book's binding, it seemed like her fingers began to burn even with that small bit of contact. She hissed slightly and pulled back her hand. It was a bad idea to even get near that book again, what would she be thinking if she were to take that book home with her?

Gah! Didn't this woman have a stubborn bone in that entire body? It was ridiculous and frustrating. It went against everything she knew of human nature. They were supposed to be sinful by their very nature, this girl was just to good. It was disgusting.
She saw the hesitation in Esme at the very sight of the book. Had she not hidden all of the energy like she'd thought she had? Oh well, nothing a little creative lying couldn't fix.
"You ok? Oh, I know what's wrong. You're not used to raw energy huh? The books full of it from when it was made I guess. It can be a little uncomfortable at first but you get used to it. After all, it's just a book. Like an encyclopedia of spells. It's not like it's anything dangerous." She shrugged and downed the last of her drink. In a way it was true, the book itself wasn't dangerous or even what was in it. The only thing she'd lied about was the raw energy bit, it wasn't exactly neutral raw energy that surrounded the thing.

Esme bit her lip, mostly to keep herself from launching herself across the table to strangle Roxy because this woman was literally getting on her last nerve. But Esme remained as collected as she possibly could and played it off as if she were overwhelmed by the book's power, "Perhaps you're right."
Esme ignored her common sense and reached for the book once more. This time she ignored the pain that ran up her arm and through her body, it was as if all of the magic in her was denying this book with all it's might. She pulled the book towards herself, wincing slightly at the pain she felt just by her contact.
Opening the book was a different experience, entirely. She was overcome by not even a fear of what was in the book, but a sense of knowing. As if just by opening the cover she had learned more about the secrets the book held. Quickly, she shut the book and pushed it away from herself, she shook her head rapidly, "I can't do this." she stated simply. Her mind, her heart, her magic all told her that the last thing she should do was mess with that book, and she was going to listen to them.

Ruina smirked as she watched the girl pick up the book. The power apparently got to her more than any human Ruina'd ever seen before. It was odd but probably could be explained by the girl's squeaky clean soul. Someone who had never felt sin before, even in as small amount as this, would react more strongly to it than most folks. Still it was annoying and the idea of just taking over the body completely was becoming more and more appealing.
She scowled as Esme pushed the book away but didn't try and make her take it back. If she pushed to hard then the girl would know something was up, even humans weren't stupid enough to miss something that obvious. "God, you really are pathetic. It's a book. You act like the thing is going to eat you. Magic needs your permission to work first, seriously get a grip. I'm surprised you didn't know that."
If Esme said no to this then it was off to plan B. Ruina would just show up as an animal at the girl's front door and let her teacher explain familiars to her. She'd corrupt this girl, one way or another.
